Mary’s Collection

Story Behind the Record: Mary’s Collection 🎶

When Mary first walked into Far Land Records, she carried with her more than just a box of vinyl — she carried memories. Inside was her late husband’s beloved record collection, carefully preserved over the years. Mary hoped to sell the collection, but she was nervous about how to go about it. She wanted to make sure she was treated fairly and admitted she didn’t have much experience when it came to records or their value.

As we began to look through the albums, one record immediately stood out: The Paul Gonsalves Quartet – LAE587 — a remarkably rare find and a true gem for any jazz collector.

When we shared the valuation with Mary, she was speechless. The collection turned out to be worth far more than she had ever imagined. That discovery not only honored her husband’s legacy but also helped Mary cover some unexpected bills that had been weighing on her mind.

Later, she told us that the experience was a lifeline — not just because of the value of the records, but because of the honesty, transparency, and care she felt throughout the process.

At Far Land Records, stories like Mary’s remind us why we do what we do.
Not every collection hides a rare treasure like hers, but every single one deserves respect, attention, and integrity. Whether you’re curious about the worth of your records or ready to sell but unsure where to start, we’re here to help — with fairness, care, and genuine passion for music. ❤️
