The Charlatans | The Only One I Know
For the first time on picture disc, Beggars Arkive reissue The Charlatans’ iconic second single, “The Only One I Know,” newly remastered at Abbey Road Studios by Frank Arkwright. Originally released in 1990, the track became the highest-charting single in the UK from their seminal debut album, Some Friendly. The song draws inspiration from music history, incorporating lines directly lifted from The Byrds' 1967 track “Everybody's Been Burned” and featuring a distinctive organ riff inspired by Deep Purple’s rendition of “Hush.”
Tim Burgess on the single ‘The Only One I Know’: ‘I came up with it on the way to the garage to get fags. I had to pelt back to my mum and dad’s to get my Dictaphone before I forgot it’
